A TEAM of doctors and nurses who helped arrange a dying man's wedding have been put nominated for a Proud of Barnsley award.

Staff on Ward 24 helped organise Dan Green and his partner Maureen's big day on January 16.

They created an aisle for the couple to walk down, trimmed up the ward, organised flowers, party poppers and confetti, played the wedding march and held a buffet afterwards.

Lead nurse Cath Fretwell said Dan, who was in his 70s, had suffered from a terminal haematology condition and had been a regular patient for about six years.
