HUNDREDS of jobs and millions of pounds in investment will be brought to Barnsley after a major development for a hotel, food and drink outlets, offices and industrial units was given the go ahead.
Hartwood Estates Limited was granted outline permission by Barnsley Council on Tuesday for a mixed use development at a site off the Dearne Valley Parkway at Birdwell.
Planning officer Joe Jenkinson said the Hartwood Estates proposals will provide an £8.1m investment and bring 314 jobs.
The mixed use site, totalling almost 8,200 square metres in floor space, will neighbour a similar development by Harworth Estates which has already been approved for offices, a hotel, car showroom/garage and food and drink outlets.
