A BROKEN-HEARTED obese son of an alcoholic says his mum’s death gave him the ‘fire’ he needed to turn his chub to muscle in a quest to become the UK’s strongest man.

Zac Perry, 25, watched mum Julie Perry fight a three year battle with alcoholism after she turned to booze to numb the pain of debilitating spinal arthritis, drinking three large bottles of vodka a day.

She died of liver failure in June 2014, aged just 47.

Her death broke Zac’s heart and he soon began comfort eating to ease his pain, piling on the pounds and becoming morbidly obese.

But Zac, of Doncaster Road, Wath-upon-Dearne, has amazed his friends and family by dramatically dropping the weight and setting his sights on becoming the country’s strongest man.
