ABOUT 200 people attended a vigil in front of Barnsley Town Hall to pay their respects to the 49 people murdered in the Pulse nightclub massacre in Florida.

The vigil on Tuesday tea time was organised by Barnsley LGBT forum, whose co-chairman Andrew Bogg said he was touched by how many people had turned out at short notice.

“Under the circumstances it is an incredible shame that people did have to come out for this vigil, but to see the unity of so many people coming together is very touching, not just as a member of the LGBT community myself, but as a member of the Barnsley community.

“Barnsley people are wonderful and when it matters, they pull together.”
