A BARNSLEY man has appeared in court charged with manslaughter following the death of a 24-year-old factory production operative in the town.

Magomeds Hizrijevs, 20, of Doncaster Road, Barnsley, appeared before magistrates in connection with the death of Nigel Evans who was found unconscious on a street near the town centre last Friday.

Emergency services were called to Sunderland Terrace, at around 5.50pm following reports of a disturbance.

 

Paramedics found Mr Evans unconscious upon their arrival. He was taken to hospital by ambulance but died on Sunday.

Latvian born Hizrijevs, 20, of Doncaster Road, Barnsley, a former international kickboxer, was arrested and charged with his manslaughter.

He appeared before magistrates in Barnsley on Monday when he was remanded in custody to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Monday August 4.
