An actress who is chasing inspiration from local people's recollections of the miner's strike had a successful information gathering day in Goldthorpe last week.
Eve Robertson, 36, originally from Broomhill, is working with the Goldthorpe Development Group and Big Local to produce a series of re-enactments from the 1984-85 strike.
The stories and recollections of people who lived through the yearlong strike will be told by Eve and four other actors early next year.
One aspect of the strike Eve feels has never been portrayed is how it affected children. Fortunately, a busy drop-in centre at the Comrades Club last Thursday has given her plenty of material to work with.
Eve was a child herself during the strike and hopes she will be able to do the stories justice.
"We spoke to well over a dozen people just last week and we are starting to cover all of the angles," said Eve.
"We probably need to do another drop-in day in January and then we will be able to make preparations.
"The acts of kindness that went on in the strike show what a tight-knit community spirit there was at the time.
"There was tension in a lot of homes at the time. We want the whole story of the strike to be shown."
The final product will be performed along Goldthorpe High Street in March and Eve would like more local people and groups to contribute.
