A NOD to the hit TV show Peaky Blinders can be found in Barnsley - with a new town centre bar called The Garrison.

The sports and live music venue is moving into the former Old Chemist cocktail bar in the Lucorum building, which is owned by businessman Chris Palmer, and opens on December 2

Its name comes from the BBC 2 drama which features a pub called The Garrison.

The Old Chemist shut suddenly in August, and before that it had been a Mediterranean restaurant under the guise of Lazy Pasta.

Joe Leonard, manager at The Garrison, said sports fans will be able to enjoy the 200 inch projector installed inside the courtyard of the building and on big screen TVs in the bar.
