THE COUNCIL is on track with its target to bring empty homes back into use, councillors will be told when they meet next week.

The authority is aiming to bring 30 empty homes back into use in 2017/18 and has already achieved 13 with seven of those being in Goldthorpe.

The number of homes returned to use are revealed in the latest council performance report which will go before cabinet on Wednesday.

It shows 26 homes have been done so far with a further 19 in the pipeline, seven of which are due for completion by the end of the financial year.

The report states: “We are therefore on track to achieve our 2017/18 target of 30, and make a strong start in delivering against our next empty homes contract with the Homes and Communities Agency, which will run from 2018 to 2021.”
