PARENTS have launched campaigns to save three children's centres which face an uncertain future as a result of a council shake-up.

Hundreds have already signed online petitions to save Rising Stars at Worsbrough Common, Kings Oak at Wombwell and Buddies at Monk Bretton.

Under new proposals, the borough's 19 children's centres face major changes to the services they offer and their opening hours – parents believe this is tantamount to closure.

Dodworth and Gilroyd Children's Centre, on Saville Road, will shut altogether under the proposals.

Rising Stars, on Bruce Avenue, runs day-care, family support and groups and activities for families with children under five.

The online petition was started by mum-of-two Zara Clegg, 29, who takes nine-month-old daughter Emily to the centre's playgroups and activities.
