A KIND-HEARTED quilt maker is asking people in Barnsley to power up their sewing machines to make comfort quilts for babies and children.
Marion Rossiter became involved with Project Linus UK last month after reading about the voluntary organisation in a magazine.
Patchwork quilts are made by volunteers across the UK and provided through the scheme to sick and traumatised babies, children and teenagers.
Marion, 61, of Cockerham Avenue, heard about a group of volunteers in Sheffield after looking the organisation up online.
She suggested donating the volunteers' blankets to the neonatal unit at Barnsley Hospital and on Tuesday, she presented 20 quilts along with Jean Golby head of the Sheffield group.
Marion made three of the quilts and is also a member of the Foxy Quilters group which meets at the Polyfox Centre in Dodworth.
She wants to form a Barnsley group and offer blankets to children in need such as those at the women's refuge.
"It's basically to support them and have these quilts as a sign that somebody cares for you," Marion said. "It's such a little thing to be able to give to somebody a bright spot in their life."
