A MAN ‘behaving inappropriately’ on footpaths around a secondary school has prompted staff to send a warning to parents.

In a post on Netherwood school’s Facebook page, it explained that police had contacted them following reports that in recent weeks, a man had been seen behaving inappropriately on public footpaths around the school, particularly the one leading on to Pitt Street.

This was occurring between 6 to 8pm.

The post advised parents to tell their children to avoid using these footpaths outside of school hours and not to walk alone if they do use them.

It said: “There have been no reported sightings during school hours or any concerns raised by any of our students, and school have followed all procedures to ensure that students are safe whilst in our care.”

Students were told during assemblies about the issue and reminded how to keep safe when they are out with friends.

A spokesman for Netherwood said: “The police advised us as a precautionary measure as they are aware young people use this path in the evenings as a cut through. We acted on their advice but have no concerns of safety whilst children are on site and to and from school.”
