RADIO presenter Stephanie Hirst will become the first transgender presenter to front a daily show on BBC radio.

Stephanie is making her long-awaited return to the county’s airwaves with a new show at Radio Leeds.

The Stephanie Hirst Show will be broadcast from 9am until 12pm and will celebrate all-things Yorkshire, will mix great music, entertainment and big-name guests.

It’s the first time Stephanie has had a regular daytime radio show since leaving Capital FM in 2014.

At the time, the show she presented, Hirsty’s Daily Dose, was one of the most listened to radio shows in the North of England.

Stephanie has briefly presented the mid-morning show on BBC Radio Leeds last summer and has previously worked for a number of commercial stations both in Yorkshire and across the country, making her one of the best-known radio presenters in the region. A former national chart show presenter, she’s also worked with ITV’s Lorraine and reported for BBC Breakfast.

“Stephanie said: “I’m beyond excited to be on air again in Yorkshire. I feel like I’m going back to where I belong. I’m really looking forward to joining the team at BBC Radio Leeds. I’ve loved radio ever since I first stepped into a studio aged 12 and I’m incredibly grateful that I’ve been able to build a career doing what I adore. After four exciting years of change I can’t wait to get back to doing what I love the most, talking to the people of Yorkshire on the radio.”
