Talented TJ Taylor has jetted off to Singapore after bagging a top job in musical theatre.

TJ, of Summerdale Road, Cudworth, is spending two months overseas - directing and coaching locals and expats on the stage.

The former Willowgarth pupil has just completed a degree in musical theatre at Blackpool and The Fylde College and spotted the job in a performing arts newspaper.

He travelled to America last summer to work as a musical theatre coach and is relishing the opportunity to work abroad again.

"It's nerve-wracking but exciting at the same time," TJ, 20, said.

"After America I wanted to go travelling and when this job came up it was the perfect mixture of travelling and teaching."

As a lover of musicals, TJ has directed shows for both the Lamproom and Barnsley Youth Theatre.

He says he will be 'thrown in at the deep end' when he arrives in Singapore, directing a production of Fame for his first task.

If all goes well, TJ will be handed a two-year contract.

"It's the adventure and the exploring and finding out how people that side of the world live," TJ said.

"I'm coming straight out of university and doing what I want to do so I've been quite lucky in that respect."
