CINDERELLA will go to the ball in the Trinity Players’ annual pantomime.

And 14-year-old Olivia Athorn, who is playing the titular role, is hoping it is another step towards her dreams of West End stage and screen stardom.

Mum Zena, from Netherfield Croft, Shafton, said: “Olivia has been taking lead roles since the age of four and now she is wanting to go on to performing arts college and then hopefully, the stage and screen.

:She has vocal lessons with Helen Ingham at the Real Music Centre in Wombwell and is a grade seven with the London College of Music, so she is hoping to eventually have a sparkling career in the West End.

“The Trinity Players are one of Barnsley’s longest running societies, having been formed in 1931. It is fabulous they have seen her potential. She is a really accomplished vocalist and two solos in the show really show her raw vocal talent. I have no idea where she gets it from as no one else in the family is really musical.”

Olivia also attends Take Two Dance Academy in Birdwell.

She will be joined by fellow Holy Trinity pupil Zac Worstenholme, who attends the Kim Frost Dance School as he plays the panto silly for the second year with the society.

Year seven’s Theo Shirt attends The Academy of the Northern Ballet along with year eight’s Hannah Whitehead who attends Musical Moments Music school. They form part of the ensemble.

The show runs from January 12-14 and 19-21.
