THREE popular market cafes will reopen for business in their new home next week.

Paul’s Cafe and Kay’s Cafe will join the rest of the Barnsley Market traders in the new development when they move into the cafe area upstairs on Monday, ahead of more new restaurants opening in the development next year.

Hilton’s Cafe, which has been trading in the new market, but on the ground floor in a temporary location, will also make the move upstairs.

Coun Roy Miller said: “We’re excited to welcome our three cafes into the Glass Works.

“Their offer is extremely important to the people of Barnsley and adds another fantastic dimension to the new market, and we hope customers continue to support the cafes and the rest of the traders.

“When completed, the full offer will feature something for all tastes. It will be a contemporary food and drink destination right in the heart of the town centre and something completely different to what Barnsley has had before.”

The official opening of the cafes will take place on Wednesday, from 8.30am, when the popular Gordon Ramsay look-a-like will return to Barnsley, joining the Mayor of Barnsley, Coun Steve Green, to mark the occasion.

Santa will also take a break from his busy Christmas preparations to make an appearance, and will be giving out presents to children from 2pm.

The market Christmas lights will be switched on just before 5pm.
