IT WAS a life-changing trip for a Wombwell war veteran who took part in the Invictus Games earlier this month.

Caroline Buckle, 36, from Kingfisher Drive, travelled to Orlando, Florida to compete in the second annual Invictus Games.

The games, a sporting event created by Prince Harry, is focused on wounded, injured or sick personnel, and Caroline was chosen to be part of the UK team in the international competition.

She served 17-and-a-half years in the army as staff personnel support in the Adjutant General’s Corp in Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan. She snapped her tendon after her Iraq tour but was misdiagnosed. By the time it was fixed, she had lost the use of one of her feet.
