A LONG-STANDING police inspector is to pass the baton to another local lad to help keep communities safe.
Inspector Geoff Carter is to retire from the South East Neighbourhood Policing Team - which covers villages including Havercroft, Hemsworth and South Kirkby - later this month and South Elmsall’s Paul Sullivan is set to replace him.
Geoff, who has served with West Yorkshire Police for 26 years, said: “I will leave with a tinge of sadness because it is a role and profession I have overwhelmingly enjoyed. Neighbourhood policing has been the most enjoyable part of my career.”
We have been at the heart of our community, every week, since 1858. The town and its people have changed dramatically since then but the Chronicle has been a constant.
