FIREFIGHTERS are still at the scene of a barn fire at a farm in Barnsley after several hours, with nearby residents advised to keep their doors and windows closed due to smoke from the blaze.
Crews from Barnsley, Cudworth, Tankersley, Elm Lane and Rivelin were called to Snowden Hill Farm at around 6.45am today following reports of a large fire reportedly started in a large barn containing more than 100 hay bales.
A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue confirmed firefighters were still at the scene, and advised residents in Oxspring to keep their doors and windows closed until the smoke clears.
An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place once it has been fully extinguished.
