A LIFELONG Barnsley fan popped the question in front of nearly 9,000 people during half-time at Oakwell.
Damian Greig lives in Manchester but lived in Wombwell until he was four and has remained a Barnsley fan ever since.
He told his partner Sarah Roberts - a Manchester United fan - that he wanted to take her to Oakwell to see Barnsley for the first time on Saturday.
He said: "The club was great about it. I went down onto the pitch and got on the microphone, and asked her to come down.
"We've just bought a house together, we're getting married, and we're expecting our first child on January 21, so it's going to be a very happy Christmas."
