TWO local police officers who fought off and arrested a murder suspect - all while in burning building - have been nominated for a bravery award.

The actions of PCs Chelsea Rudge and Christopher Beevers will be recognised at the 21st Police Bravery Awards on July 14.

The awards, sponsored by Police Mutual, honour and recognise police officers who performed outstanding acts of bravery while on or off duty.

In July last year, PCs Rudge and Beevers attended an incident in Sheffield which was reported as a man shouting for help. At the scene they were confronted by a flat engulfed in flames and a man laying unconscious, severely injured, in the doorway.
