A FATHER with an incurable muscle-wasting disease is adapting his Monk Bretton home as his condition worsens.

Ian Pratt, 46, of Newhill Road, suffers from motor neurone disease and now struggles to get upstairs and into certain rooms and only has a small space in his kitchen to move about in his wheelchair.

He is having a downstairs bedroom and wet room built for him and his wife Catherine, 45, which should be finished the week before Christmas.

It is thought the work could cost up to £50,000.

He has received a grant of £3,000 from The Motor Neurone Disease Association to help kick-start the works.
