FEWER than 100 people have responded to calls for feedback on plans to change children’s surgery and stroke services in Barnsley.
Consultation on the plans to move hospital services for the first crucial hours after a stroke and certain children’s surgery procedures started six weeks ago.
The low response rate was revealed by health bosses during a council overview and scrutiny committee on Tuesday.
Under the new proposals Barnsley Hospital would no longer provide hyper acute care - the first 72 hours after a stroke - and anyone who suffers a stroke would be taken to Doncaster, Sheffield or Wakefield for those first few days or until medically stable.
A separate plan would see children in Barnsley who need an operation under general anaesthetic for certain types of surgery either at night, weekend or require an overnight stay sent out of town to another hospital.
Consultation will run until January 23.
