A TOP local football team are being turfed off their pitch after their rent was doubled.
Westville FC played 21 games on the grass pitch at Dearne Valley College, Wath, last season.
The West Melton club won two major trophies at Rotherham United’s New York Stadium and was the first local side to lift the Sheffield and Hallamshire Senior League cup in 30 years.
But the club is now having to consider moving home just a month before the new season starts.
Rob said: “We have been there five years and normally, we pay a fee for the season - so £750 for grass pitch or £800 for the astro. But the phone call said they were not offering that deal anymore and now it would be £90 per game.”
