A SIXTY-YEAR-OLD disabled homeless woman, who was living out of her car for months in a layby near Darfield, is just one of many who has been helped by a local group.

Hands On Heart, set up by mother and daughter duo Jill, 55, and Ashleigh Shotton, 21, of Carrfield Lane, Bolton-Upon-Dearne, found her in a layby off the A635 after someone told them of her plight.

Along with their neighbour Allison Marsh, and Les Camplin, a Doncaster man who himself was once homeless, Jill and Ashleigh work across Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster to help those in need.

They provide food, water and advice to the homeless to help them turn their lives around.

The 60-year-old woman, who they helped and does not want to be named, said their intervention was life-saving.
