A MAN was robbed in his home after being hit with a lump hammer in what police believe was a targeted attack.

The incident, which took place on Kings Road, Cudworth, happened early on Sunday.

Two burglars knocked on the 52-year-old man’s door at around 4am before going into the property and injuring him with the weapon.

One of the men then stole two chains from around the victim’s neck.

A spokesman from South Yorkshire Police added: “They left the area on foot, turning right on to Kings Road heading towards Pontefract Road.

“Enquiries remain ongoing to identify those involved and police believe this was a targeted incident.”
