THE She Shed Association launched a new campaign funded by the Big Lottery to raise awareness about depression.

‘Throwing clay at depression: Pottery for healing’ was launched on July 28 at the K and S Ceramics studio, Lambra Road, Barnsley, and will run every Thursday from 10am to 4pm.

The classes will offer free pottery sessions where you can work with local ceramic artists, as well as learn how to efficiently use a pottery wheel.

Touching and shaping clay has been known to be therapeutic for thousands of years. The therapeutic potential of throwing clay is increasingly recognised by the wider mental health community.

The She Shed Association brings women together to share their skills, tools and conversation.

For a lot of women the association saves them from isolation and provides them with a new place they can come which is safe and friendly where they can build new relationships.
