A CHRONICLE reader bagged himself tickets to the final of snooker’s English Open as well as the chance to play a frame against a professional at the Metrodome.

Mark Whitham was the winner of the Chronicle competition which ran earlier this month and said he was thrilled to see Ronnie O’Sullivan’s emphatic 9-2 win over Kyren Wilson in Sunday’s final.

Mark had also attended several earlier matches at the Metrodome on Thursday, met several top players including Neil Robertson, and tried his hand in a frame against Andrew Higginson.

“It was quite informal so we didn’t really keep score, but I think he came out on top,” said Mark, 51, of Sheffield Road, Penistone.

“It was absolutely brilliant.”

Three runners-up won tickets to a semi final: Steven Clegg, Sarah Blythe and Emma Wright.
