IT WAS more than ten years ago that work colleagues Mandy Houghton and Jayne Jukes hatched a heart-warming idea.

Back then the pair worked for the British Heart Foundation as nurses.

Their job: to work with patients who had suffered heart failure by visiting them at home or at clinics across the community.

And pretty soon it occurred to them that people recovering from heart failure were often lonely.

Mandy and Jayne, who now work for the South West Yorkshire NHS Foundation Trust decided to do something about it by setting up a support group.
