IT will be revealed today what role Barnsley will play in next year’s Tour de Yorkshire cycle race as details of the full route are announced in Leeds.

It was confirmed in October that Barnsley would serve as a host town for a second year running, but whether that is as a start line or a finish line location, and on which of the four days of the race, will be announced today.

The Tour will take place between May 2 and May 5 and has now been upgraded to ‘HC status’ by cycling’s world governing body the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) the highest category for a multi-day race outside of the UCI World Tour.
