A MAN who denies causing the death of a teenager will appear at Sheffield Crown Court next month.

Stephen Dale, of Hartley Close, South Elmsall, pleaded not guilty to two charges at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday causing death by dangerous driving and doing so without a licence or insurance.

The charges relate to an incident on Lane Head Road, Cawthorne, on August 2 last year when a silver Yamaha FZ6 Fazer motorbike crashed after mounting a kerb, killing 16-year-old pillion passenger Dean Winterbottom, of Colley Crescent, Kendray.

District Judge Joanne Hirst granted unconditional bail to Dale, 32, who will next appear for a trial preparation hearing in Sheffield on December 27.
