South Yorkshire Police officers on patrol on Pontefract Road, Hoyle Mill, at 7.30pm when the man was found unresponsive and although attempts were made to resuscitate the 29-year-old, he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police have said his death is not being treated as suspicious.
