CONCERNED parents say they are alarmed that almost a quarter of staff will have left a Barnsley primary school by Easter, including the headteacher and deputy head.

Littleworth Grange Primary Academy is part of the Navigate Academies Trust, which also looks after Darfield, Goosacre and The Hill primary schools.

The Lundwood school was taken over by the trust after being judged 'inadequate' by Ofsted in 2010 and 'satisfactory' a year later.

It underwent rapid improvement under the executive head at the time, Sarah Creighton, and in 2012 was ranked the third most improved primary in the country.

Executive head, Alison Green, confirmed the departures and said new teachers are being recruited.

"There are staff who are leaving and they are going for a number of different reasons," she said. "I don't think it is because of me at all. They have left to pursue different aspects of their careers and different roles and to get wider experience.

"I am not aware of any problems linked in any way with my leadership."
