A BARNSLEY biker has won a trophy in spite of being involved in a smash at his first race meet.

Connor Semley, 23, of Kingsway, Grimethorpe, is making a name for himself racing motorbikes in the Thundersport Pre National 600 Freshman Championship.

He escaped uninjured following the smash at Cadwell Parkin May, and undeterred, went on to win third place and a trophy at his second race meet at Brands Hatch in Kent.

“We were on the starting grid and we all set off. Someone stalled their bike in front of me. Luckily, I managed to get away scot free. But the man I hit broke his pelvis, and the man who stalled his bike got his leg run over,” he said.
