Barnsley got their pre-season underway with a 3-3 draw at National League side Guiseley.

It was a first chance for Barnsley fans to see new signings Ethan Pinnock, Zeki Fyers and Stevie Mallan as well as the returning Lloyd Isgrove.

Guiseley fielded mostly a team of trialists including former Red Kayode Odejayi, who came on for the second half.

The Reds started brightly with Ryan Hedges having an early effort turned away by the Guiseley 'keeper.

They were ahead on 17 minutes when Isgrove wriggled inside the box and his left footed shot deflected into the top corner.

Mallan then sliced an effort just over the bar from 25 yards.

Guiseley took advantage of a good spell as they levelled on 34 minutes after one of their trialists fired in from inside the box.

They turned the game around with another trialist netting after Adam Jackson's short pass was seized upon and passed around 'keeper Jack Walton for a tap in.

Adam Hammill and George Moncur came on at the break as Barnsley made early strides to get level.

Hedges fired a powerful effort straight at the home team's 'keeper.

Fryers then introduced himself on 59 minutes with a tremendous leveller which flew straight into the top corner from long-range before Tom Bradshaw nodded a cross just wide.

Odejayi then had an effort turned onto the woodwork but it was cleverly turned in by Reece Thompson to put Guiseley back ahead on 73 minutes.

Substitute George Moncur rescued a draw with a curled effort from the edge of the box with three minutes to play.
