Teenager Elliot Bennett is aiming for top spot after receiving a second England call.

The 13-year-old from Gawber has been selected for the under 14 England Alpine ski squad for the forthcoming winter season.

It's a second successive winter that the Penistone Grammar School pupil will be representing his country.

Last season he claimed four podium finishes and skied in Bulgaria, Italy, Switzerland, France and Austria in England colours.

Dad Russell is hopeful he will be able to come out on top after gaining more experience.

He said: "It is another season for him competing at the top level.

"Last season he really put himself in the shop window and he couldn't not be called up again.

"He is 13 going on 19 and we hope he can go on to win some events now."

It's hoped that Bennett can earn an even more prestigious call-up in the future with the youngster setting his sites on the GB children's team.

It's achievable if Bennett maintains consistency throughout the season with British Ski and Snowboard Board Director Tim Fawke believing in his potential.

He added: "Elliot is one of our athletes who has followed the talent pathway from his early skiing and is well on track to achieving his potential."
