A ballet dancer from Wath won the role of the black swan in a television programme of Swan Lake hosted by Wayne Sleep.
Jessica Bell, 25, auditioned for Big Ballet, a reality programme for dancers who do not fit with conventional sizes and heights.
At size 14, she was considered too big to be a ballet dancer but vowed not to let it stop her fulfilling her ambition.
She beat off competition from 500 others to make it down to the last 16 and eventually won the part about five months ago.
"I was in shock when I won the part, because I really wasn't expecting it to be honest. But I was over the moon."
The show will follow Jessica through months of rehearsals and show how she juggles being a mother to her five-year-old daughter Brodie.
Jessica, of Winfield Road, Wath, has danced since she was two, but always played male parts, never really getting to wear the tutu.
"I could go an audition and be just as good as someone who is a size eight, but that person would get the part because they were a size eight. It's a dancing prejudice that's been around for years.
"But dance in the 1800s was all bigger women."
Having performed Swan Lake in Bradford, Jessica has now returned to her job at the call centre Eon but is hoping to carry on dancing professionally.
"It's a way of expressing things you can't always say. But I've got to see what's out there because everyone wants thinner people."
Jessica said she may now diet, but her proud mum Tracey said: "She's an amazing dancer but to get up on national television and say 'I don't conform but watch me' - I'm so proud of her."
