OFFICIAL Dale Gamble benefited from the lack of Brits making it to the finals of the European games.
The 51-year-old from Barnsley has just returned home from Baku in Azerbaijan where he officiated throughout the karate tournament.
A lack of Brits in the final stages resulted in Dale being kept busy.
He said: "It was a brilliant experience. We do have some great fighters in Britain but for one reason or another they didn't perform. That meant I refereed three semi-finals and was a judge in finals."
Dale is the chief referee for England and Great Britain. His next job will be to officiate in the world junior championships which as held in Indonesia in November.
