Parents are worried about the safety of their children after attempts to replace a school lollipop lady were unsuccessful.
The road crossing patrol at Barugh Green Primary went off sick after Christmas but despite advertising the role no-one has come forward to step in temporarily.
Parent Julie Andrew said: "In the week the children came back to school after Christmas the headteacher got a call saying there would be no crossing lady that day, or for the foreseeable future."
Their concerns have been prompted because the school is on narrow Higham Common Road which operates a give way system to drivers on some stretches to allow vehicles to pass.
Traffic, including HGVs, also use the road after getting off the nearby Dodworth bypass, raising additional safety concerns.
Headteacher Michael Gilmore said: "It's dangerous and disappointing. It's nobody's fault, there just doesn't seem to be anybody to take on the role and responsibility."
Coun Linda Burgess said: "Parents have made me aware of the danger on Higham Common Road. To date, no one has been recruited, so this really is an appeal for someone to train and take on the role on a relief basis."
Coun Roy Miller added: "The current school crossing patrol person who serves Barugh Green Primary School is on sick leave. The council has made attempts to recruit a relief warden, with no success. People interested in filling this post are urged to contact the council on 772024."
