RELATIVES of a woman who died in a house fire in Elsecar are desperately raising money to help fly her grandchildren over from Cyprus for her funeral.

Katherine Collard and her partner Erwin Albers died in a fire at their home on Cherry Tree Street last Tuesday.

Katherine's family is hoping to raise £2,000 to enable her grandchildren, Chelsie, 17, Charlie, 16 and Joshua, 12, to come to the funeral. They live in Paphos, Cyprus, with Katherine's daughter Stacy, 38, and her partner Peter Carabine.

Stacy has arrived in the UK and is staying with relatives in Worthing, West Sussex, but Peter and the children have had to stay in Cyprus because flights are too expensive.

Stacy's cousin Rebecca Collard said: "Stacy is a total wreck. She's going through a bit of a breakdown at the moment but is being supported by us as much as we can."
