PENISTONE has been dealt a blow by Tour de Yorkshire organisers who have confirmed that two out of the three ‘sportive’ events for amateur riders will not pass through the town.
It had originally been understood that all three events as well as the race would include the town on their route.
But the public participation sportive events are run by a separate company to the main race and it has emerged two will miss Penistone altogether.
However, councillors still insist the event will be a success, with the Penistone Show Committee helping to draw together all the different businesses and organisations which will contribute to showcasing the area.
