ASSAULTS on police officers in Barnsley have continued to rise year-on-year, according to figures obtained by the Chronicle.
There has been 101 assaults on officers across all ranks in the Barnsley policing districts from 2013 up to September this year, a Freedom of Information request to South Yorkshire Police has revealed.
The data shows there were more assaults between January and September this year - 31 in total - compared to previous years when there were 27 reported across the whole of 2015, 19 in 2014 and three years ago there were 24 assaults on officers.
