EVEREST hero Les Binns is determined he will one day reach the top of the world’s highest mountain but after two attempts were agonisingly cut short, he’s decided it’s time to ‘ev-a-rest’.

Former soldier Les arrived back at his home at Manvers on Sunday after having to abandon his dream of reaching Everest’s summit for the second time in a year - again just a few hundred metres from the top.

Les, 43, was hailed a hero the first time a year ago when he gave it up to save the life of a stranger.

More than £35,000 was raised following a huge campaign to send him back again and to raise money for ABF the Soldiers Charity, but he was devastated to turn back a second time with the summit in sight when treacherous weather left him fearing for his own life.
